Dr. Alkaitis is a highly regarded research scientist with a Ph.D. in physical chemistry. He worked with 4 Nobel Laureates. His research professor Dr. F. Willard Libby at UCLA was one; he invented radiocarbon dating, for which Dr. Libby received the Nobel Prize, making him the father of modern archeology. Dr. Alkaitis did plant research with Professor Melvin Calvin at the University of California at Berkeley. Professor Calvin received his Nobel, showing how the sun drives the energy cycle of plants, how plants use carbon in photosynthesis. With Professor Howard M. Temin at the University of Wisconsin at Madison, Dr. Alkaitis did viral cancer research. Dr. Temin received his Nobel for showing how a whole new live form, namely the retrovirus (the AIDS virus is one of them), could use RNA for their genes, demonstrating that a feedback loop in the transfer of genetic information did exist in nature. In the 70's, Dr. Alkaitis was invited, with 19 other young scientists from all over the world, for the very first month-long workshop at Cold Springs Harbor Laboratory, Long Island. It was given by Dr. James D. Watson, who, together with his colleague Crick from Britain received the Nobel for the discovery of how genetic information is stored and transferred by DNA, making them the founders of modern biology. The workshop was on genetic engineering! Dr. Alkaitis has made in-depth studies of plants on a level that few people have done; as a chemist, a molecular biologist, an ethnopharmacologist (someone that has studied the traditional ways of healing mainly with plants), and as a pharmacognosist (someone who has studied the medicinal properties of plants). With his scientific knowledge and expertise in plant life, he has the unique advantage to fuse science into a holistic approach, hence creating one of the most dynamic personal-care lines available on the market today. Dr. Alkaitis was a child prodigy violinist with numerous TV appearances. As a young adult he received scholarships in music and academics. He played first violin in the UCLA orchestra and was as member of a quartet. Although a promising musician, instead, he chose to pursue his intellectual and scientific interests. Dr. Alkaitis' lectures "The Essential Foundation of Beauty is Health" are wonderfully informative and well known. | ||
